Can I use tap water in my aquarium?

Tap water is not harmful to use in an aquarium. However, there are tap water that is treated with cleaning agents like Chlorine that may harm the fishes. Cleaning agents are used to treat the water for drinking purposes. You may use any type of water provided that it is not contaminated with any type of chemical. If in case you have a fish that can only live in salt water, one way to keep it living is by using sea water for your aquarium or by means of adding enough salt in your tap water.
